چکیده

Background Cardiac involvement is a leading cause of morbidity and premature mortality in patients with scleroderma. Identification of this offers the opportunity for earlier and more stratified therapeutic intervention. Published data on the prognostic significance of left and right ventricular impairment and myocardial fibrosis in this cohort are limited. The study objective was to determine the prevalence and prognostic significance of abnormalities on cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) in patients with scleroderma who have breathlessness and/or other cardiac symptoms.

Myocardial tissue characterisation with late gadolinium enhancement in rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus and systemic sclerosis

Background Rheumatoid arthritis (RA), systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and systemic sclerosis (SSc) commonly involve the cardiovascular system, and are associated with high morbidity and mortality. Mechanisms of cardiovascular disease (CVD) involvement in these clinical entities are not fully understood. Furthermore, little is known about myocardial structure and function in these inflammator...

Myocardial fibrosis delineation in late gadolinium enhancement images of Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy patients using deep learning methods

Introduction: Accurate delineation of myocardial fibrosis in Late Gadolinium Enhancement on Cardiac Magnetic Resonance (LGE-CMR) has a crucial role in the assessment and risk stratification of HCM patients. As this is time-consuming and requires expertise, automation can be essential in accelerating this process. This study aims to use Unet-based deep learning methods to automate the mentioned ...

Detection of left ventricular regional dysfunction and myocardial abnormalities using complementary cardiac magnetic resonance imaging in patients with systemic sclerosis without cardiac symptoms

Methods Consecutive patients with SSc without cardiac symptoms and healthy controls underwent CMR. Peak systolic regional circumferential and radial strain (Ecc and Err, %) were calculated using a feature tracking analysis on mid-left ventricular slices obtained with cine MRI in six segments. Furthermore, perfusion defect (PD) under pharmacological stress and late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) w...

The incidence and prognostic value of silent myocardial scar by late gadolinium enhancement in patients with atrial fibrillation

Background Late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) during contrastenhanced cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging is a powerful predictor of adverse event. However, there are limited data regarding the incidence and prognostic significance of LGE in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF). Furthermore, while CMR is one of the modalities employed in characterizing pulmonary venous anatomy in patients...

Late gadolinium enhancement by cardiovascular magnetic resonance provides prognostic information in symptomatic alcoholic cardiomyopathy

Background Previous studies have demonstrated that late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) on cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR)predicted independently cardiac adverse outcomes in dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM). ACM patients did not have a better outcome than DCM and prognosis was poorer after development of heart failure. There is no report about the association between alcoholic cardiomyopathy (...
